Curve Dental vs iDentalSoft (2026): Two Cloud PMSs, Two Pricing Philosophies

Facts & pricing verified July 3, 2026

Both cloud, both all-in-one, both migration-friendly — and they’ve made opposite bets on almost everything else. Neither is our product (we build software that layers on top of PMSs like these, per the banner); no affiliate links.

The two bets

Curve (founded 2004, Battery Ventures-backed, 80,000+ professionals served) bet on polish and scale: the smoothest UI in cloud PMS, 2,500+ migrations, SmartFill AI scheduling, a large partner marketplace (Weave, Pearl, Bola AI, DentalXChange…) — and enterprise-style quote-only pricing.

iDentalSoft (founded 2010, 2,300+ dentists) bet on value transparency: a published $395/month flat per practice — every user and provider included — with an unusually broad base bundle (unlimited eClaims, patient portal, native imaging, 3D odontogram, teledentistry, kiosk check-in) and add-ons priced à la carte.

How to decide

Count your providers. A solo practice pays similar money either way and should weight UI and ecosystem — advantage Curve. A 3–5 provider group pays once at iDentalSoft and per-location (with a bigger quote) at Curve — the flat price compounds fast.

Count your clicks. iDentalSoft’s recurring criticism is workflow friction (“too many steps to chart,” page-by-page navigation). High-velocity offices should chart a real patient in both demos and literally count.

Check your integrations. If you’re attached to Weave, Pearl, or a specific eligibility/claims stack, Curve’s marketplace has it; iDentalSoft’s walled garden may not.

Run your reports. Both have reporting complaints of different flavors — bring your three most-used reports to each demo and try to reproduce them yourself, without the sales engineer driving.

Verdict

Curve is the safer default: more mature, more integrable, easier to staff for. iDentalSoft is the better deal for multi-provider practices that value support responsiveness and can tolerate clunkier workflows. Neither should be bought without demoing the other — the quotes get better when they know who else is in the room.
